Tales of Enchantment

WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 7363 [post_author] => 180 [post_date] => 2024-11-20 12:27:30 [post_date_gmt] => 2024-11-20 17:27:30 [post_content] => Bela Bartok’s mythic parable Cantata Profana: "The Nine Enchanted Stags" anchors this concert of magical stories told through music and spoken word. Also on the program is Felix Mendelssohn’s seldom heard “The First Walpurgis Night” which tells the treacherous tale of a Druid pagan masquerade. We conclude with Alexander Borodin’s exotic Polovtsian dances from his opera "Prince Igor.” Join the 170-voice Chorale, full symphonic orchestra, soloists, and narrator for this spectacular program. Street Requiem

WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 7367 [post_author] => 180 [post_date] => 2024-11-20 12:27:15 [post_date_gmt] => 2024-11-20 17:27:15 [post_content] => The Chorale and Youth Choir combine forces to sing "Street Requiem", a work written by Australian composer Kathleen McGuire in collaboration with Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch, in order to bring attention to those who suffer from housing insecurity and to honor those who have died on the streets. The composers set English, African, and Persian texts in multiple musical styles, including contemporary, gospel, and indigenous. This moving and uplifting work invites both performers and listeners to contemplate and address this significant social issue together as a community.
