[post_content] => Learn to weave a landscape tapestry using a circle loom! These looms are a one-time use because they make a beautiful frame for your tapestry. This workshop will teach you to warp a circle loom using a non-circular set-up to weave an image of a landscape featuring a waterfall that will fall from the frame. Students will learn to design “outside the frame" along with how to warp a simple tapestry frame loom then weave using a variety of stitches and yarns to create texture and visual interest. Once your masterpiece is finished, the tapestry will be ready to hang on the wall for all to admire your mastery of weaving!

Learn to prolong your wardrobe or make changes to vintage clothing for resale! This class is all about mending clothes (mostly denim) to give the mending character and appeal. Visible mending has been growing in popularity and is reshaping how we view our own wardrobes to make what we already have into slow fashion. During this class, students will make samples they can use to learn the techniques to apply to their own clothing to endure the test of wear and time. If students would like to bring in a pair of jeans or a jacket for the instructor to offer advice, that would make the class that much more interesting!
PLEASE NOTE: Typically, TJF fiber arts classes and workshops are for women only, but this workshop is open to any military-connected individual.
We offer scholarships for those who cannot afford the registration fee. Email the Operation ART Program Manager at

We will use tile, small bowls, or plates as the ceramic that will be broken and then bound back together with quick fuse glue and mica instead of traditional resin or real gold. Participants end the workshop with a piece that symbolizes the acceptance of imperfection and reinforces the beauty of resilience. All materials provided. You can bring your own piece of small pottery to use for the workshop if desired.

Time: 11 am - 1 pm
This one-time workshop will provide you with the materials and techniques needed to create a mug, tumbler, or cup for your morning coffee/tea or favorite beverage, or to give as a special gift to someone you love. We will roll our own slabs of clay, incorporate textures on their surfaces, and shape the form by hand to hand-build your choice of drinkware.
PLEASE NOTE: your piece will not be finished/take-home ready on the day of class--it must dry and then be kiln-fired and glazed off-site. You'll choose from a selection of food-safe glazes, and our friends at Klaystation in Raleigh will fire and glaze your piece--you'll be contacted to come pick up your completed mug from TJF within one month of class.
No experience is needed and all levels and abilities are welcome! Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty, and please let us know if you need any accommodations (standing workspace, additional lighting, etc.).
We offer scholarships for those who cannot afford the registration fee. Email the Operation ART Program Manager at
