Amazing Women of History Portrayals

Step back in time and “meet” some gutsy and inspirational women who are all excellent role models. Every one of them is an overcomer and achiever who impacted our country. In these performances (adjusted for ages and grade levels), students will interact with a “real” woman from history, hearing the stories about her life and the times in which she lived, in her own words, and then they’ll have the opportunity to actually ask her questions! Some students may help demonstrate events she experienced, such Nellie Bly’s attempt at elephant training or Molly Brown’s final hours on the Titanic.

JoAnn tours original one-woman shows about: Ground-breaking reporter and adventurer Nellie Bly (late 1800s, early 1900s) Beloved wife of Abraham Lincoln, Mary Lincoln (mid-1800s, Civil War) Founding Mother Abigail Adams (Revolutionary War, women’s rights) Child Star and Diplomat Shirley Temple Black (Golden Age of Hollywood, Great Depression, Cold War, diplomacy) The Unsinkable Molly Brown of Titanic fame (early 1900s, women’s suffrage) First Female Cabinet Member Frances Perkins (Great Depression, women in politics, women’s suffrage, Social Security, The New Deal)
