United Arts Celebrates 45th Anniversary of Artists in Schools Program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wake County, NC – October 24, 2024 – United Arts Wake County is thrilled to celebrate the 45th anniversary of our Artists in Schools Program, a cornerstone initiative that has significantly enriched arts education in Wake County for decades. This milestone celebrates the program’s enduring impact on the local community and its dedication to integrating arts into education.
The Artists in Schools Program places professional teaching artists in Wake County K-12 schools for curriculum-based performances, workshops, and residencies. Each year, over 130,000 students benefit from these programs, which foster creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among students.
In the 2023-2024 school year alone, United Arts collaborated with 269 artists, companies, ensembles, and groups, reaching 141 schools. This collaboration resulted in 263 performances, 115 workshop residencies, and 39 week-long writer residencies, providing students with diverse and enriching artistic experiences.
