Coffee & Culture: The Kick-Off to Wake County’s Cultural Season

Coffee & Culture: The Kick-Off to Wake County’s Cultural Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Raleigh, NC – September 11, 2024 – Join us for a morning of networking, celebration, and community at the upcoming Coffee & Culture event, set to take place next Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at Venture Hall in Marbles Kids Museum. This vibrant event, priced at $25 per ticket, offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a continental breakfast while connecting with fellow community members and celebrating the power of the arts in our region.

Coffee & Culture aims to honor and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of United Arts grant recipients and to recognize our dedicated supporters and elected officials who continuously champion the arts in Wake County.

At this event, United Arts Wake County will present Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) as the recipient of the first-ever United Arts Champion Award. This recognition is in honor of CBC’s exceptional contributions to the arts community and their unwavering support of United Arts’ mission to enhance the cultural landscape of Wake County. The Arts Champion Award will be accepted on behalf of Capitol Broadcasting Corporation by WRAL anchor Dan Haggarty.

The line-up of performers and speakers features the Enloe High School Jazz Ambassadors, choreographer and former WCPSS arts director Freddie-Lee Heath, and live artmaking with visual artist Patrizia Ferreira. Ferreira’s piece, Periphery, explores the concept of borders—both natural and man-made—highlighting the divisions they create while questioning whether these separations or the cumulative forces behind them are the true barriers. The community is invited to participate in creating soft sculptures from pantyhose, fabric remnants, and thread, as part of Ferreira’s work from her Artspace residency.

We invite community members from all sectors to join us as we foster connections and take pride in our cultural assets. Don’t miss this chance to be part of an inspiring morning filled with art, culture, and community spirit.

United Arts extends its gratitude to our 2024 Coffee & Culture Sponsors: Glenwood Agency, Mary Anne Howard, Smedes York Family, Visit Raleigh, Brooks Pierce, Comerica Bank, A.J. Fletcher Foundation, Martha Keravuori, Helga Leftwich, The English Garden, Pineapple Sol, and Marbles Kids Museum; and our season sponsors: First Citizens Bank, Wake County Government, and North Carolina Arts Council. Their contributions are vital to fostering a vibrant arts community.
