A fund to bring Wake County students to area arts and cultural destinations!
**The Wheels on the Bus Application is now closed. It will reopen for 2022-2023 school year. Stay tuned for details.**
Wheels on the Bus grants provide funds to move one grade level per school per year at Wake County public elementary schools for field trips to area arts and cultural destinations. Title I schools are given priority as they have student populations with 40-80 percent of student bodies receiving free or reduced lunch assistance.
Schools must choose their field trip destination from a list of available options. The fund will cover transportation costs for the field trip and may help defray entrance costs (if any), on a limited basis. Field trips must take place during the school day. Schools may submit only one application per school year.
“Thank you so much for providing our third grade with the Wheels on the Bus award. We value all that the United Arts Council does for WCPSS and for our school. Thank you for providing our students with a valuable learning experience!”
-Kelly F. Wilson, Assistant Principal, Combs Elementary
Additional support for the Wheels on the Bus Fund is provided by Wake County and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
