RALEIGH, NC — July 23, 2025 — Dancing Man Productions, a Raleigh-based theatre company
created for performers aged 55 and up, proudly announces its second production, The Music Man SR.—a
joyful, 60-minute adaptation of the beloved Broadway classic. Presented in partnership with Raleigh
Little Theatre, all rehearsals and performances will take place at Raleigh Little Theatre’s fully accessible
campus.
Based on Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award–winning musical comedy, The Music Man SR.
features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth, and good
old-fashioned romance. Family entertainment at its best, this bold and brassy production is a toe-tapping
crowd-pleaser sure to have the whole town atwitter.
Master showman Harold Hill arrives in River City, Iowa, with “seventy-six trombones” in tow. The
fast-talking traveling salesman convinces the townspeople to buy instruments and uniforms for a boys’
band he vows to organize—despite not knowing a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town
with the cash are complicated when he falls for Marian, the town’s upright and uptight librarian, whose
belief in Harold’s potential just might help him succeed in spite of himself.
This vibrant production continues Dancing Man Productions’ mission to reimagine senior participation in
the arts by offering daytime rehearsals and matinee performances—eliminating the challenges of
nighttime travel while fostering a strong, inclusive creative community.
Audiences can expect a heartwarming, high-energy musical experience filled with humor, nostalgia, and
timeless songs, performed by a cast of seasoned artists who prove that creativity thrives at every stage of
life.
