Raleigh Wide Open is a new event with a long history. It will feature all of the elements that people around Raleigh loved about the festival PineCone produced with IBMA over the last 12-years. The highlight of the weekend will be the huge, free street festival showcasing music that is culturally rich, rooted in community and broad in appeal. It will be inclusive, diverse and reflect the entire city it’s intended to serve.

Raleigh Wide Open is a name that dates back to 2006, when downtown Raleigh experienced a cultural renaissance. Fayetteville Street re-opened to traffic, and just a few years later, the new Raleigh Convention Center opened its doors and Red Hat Amphitheater provided a vital new music venue. Since that time, Fayetteville Street has been “Wide Open” for festivals, bringing music, art, sports fans and neighbors together. This latest iteration of Raleigh Wide Open will carry on in that tradition as we usher in a vibrant new era for downtown Raleigh.
