From the Highlands to the Shire

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, the Triangle Wind Ensemble’s fall concert will feature a collection of our favorite pieces that we have played since our organization was founded. The season opener, From the Highlands to the Shire, will feature Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances and Gandalf from Johan de Meij’s epic Symphony No. 1: The Lord of the Rings. We’ll also perform Shostakovich’s jubilant Festive Overture and Morton Lauridsen’s solemn O Magnum Mysterium. With bold fanfares and moments of profound reflection, this concert promises an afternoon of wonderful music-making.
Program to be selected from:
Festive Overture — Dmitri Shostakovich
Out of the Shadows — Henry Dorn
“Adagio and Phrygia” from Spartacus — Aram Khachaturian
Spiritual Suite — Margaret Bonds
This Kaleidoscope is Broken — Tyler Jones
Symphony No. 1 — Lord of the Rings, Mvt. I Gandalf — Johan de Meij
O Magnum Mysterium — Morton Lauridsen
Four Scottish Dances — Malcolm Arnold
March from Symphonic Metamorphosis — Paul Hindemith
