United Strings of Color will be performing as part of the City of Raleigh’s celebration of Emancipation Day. Emancipation Day, while not as well known or appreciated as Juneteenth, actually has more resonance for North Carolina history. Numerous North Carolina municipalities have celebrated this Day in January since 1865. It is a tradition that will resonate with audiences of today.
