The Beatles + banjo = BeatleGrass, a new show from musical director Jimmy Rea and the Ozarks-based bluegrass/acoustic quintet The HillBenders. It’s a high-energy trip through the Beatles’ catalog reimagined with banjo, mandolin, drums, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and stacked harmonies. From “Please Please Me” to “Let It Be,” expect inventive arrangements and the musical fire that put the band on the map with Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry, a bluegrass interpretation of The Who’s rock opera that was covered by Rolling Stone and premiered with an exclusive video at Billboard.
BeatleGrass carries that same spirit of fearless reinterpretation to the most beloved songbook in pop music. In addition to their original music and appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, The HillBenders have brought their bluegrass meets rock ’n’ roll approach to mashups with jam-band veteran Keller Williams through his GratefulGrass and PettyGrass projects. Expect to sing along, dance, and hear a few HillBenders originals, too. Get ready for peace, love, and great music when The HillBenders present BeatleGrass!
