Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Peter Rowan is one of America’s most revered musical storytellers. A 2022 inductee into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, Rowan has spent over five decades shaping the sound and spirit of American roots music — from bluegrass and folk to rock, country, and beyond.
Inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 2022, Rowan was one of Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys in the 1960s. Together, Rowan and the father of bluegrass wrote the classic “Walls of Time.” He’s picked and sung plenty of bluegrass since then, but that’s only part of his music story. Rowan is also beloved by Grateful Dead fans for his work in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, and Vassar Clements.
He’s won a Grammy and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, and he’s played with artists across genres and generations, including Emmylou Harris, Tony Rice, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Sam Bush, and Sam Grisman. But at this Down Home Concert, we get him all to ourselves. Performing solo, Rowan will share songs and stories from across his career, always with the peaceful, loving charm that’s made him a beloved figure for decades.
BONUS BLUEGRASS: Members of the Carolina Bluegrass Band will perform informally in the lobby before this show!
