Artists in Schools Directory

About the Directory

The Artists in Schools Directory is an online catalogue of performance, workshop, and residency programs. Each approved program has an individual webpage with information about the artist, contact information, and details about the program. Users may search the Directory by keyword, artistic discipline, program type, grade level, and cultural context of program. The Directory is updated annually every August.

Directory Users

The Artists in Schools Directory is designed for schools in Wake County to identify and book vetted artists with approved curriculum-based programs. The Johnston County Arts Council utilizes the Directory to administer its own Artists in Schools program. The Directory is publicly accessible, and local community groups and municipalities utilize it for programming classes, performances, and festivals.

Directory Data

Each Artists in Schools Directory listing includes program information that schools need to know when considering a program. Directory data includes the program’s needs including space, technical requirements, availability, and fee structure.

Professional versions of technical riders are discouraged for Artists in Schools programs. Instead, United Arts recommends artists provide an information sheet that details technical requirements as published in the Artists in Schools Directory.

Artists set their own fees and must honor fees, as published in the Directory, for the entire length of a school year.
