WillPower provides residencies in Acting, Improvisation, Voice and Movement, Production Assistance, and Playwriting. A great benefit of this program is its flexibility and tailored curriculum to provide exactly what teachers want out of the experience. Acting residencies cover everything from the basics to a variety of methods and techniques including Viewpoints, Suzuki and Linklater. A focus on auditions or scene study also provides an in-depth investigation of the craft of acting. Improvisation residencies provide opportunities to explore Viola Spolin technique, ensemble building or devised theatre. Working without a script, students discover and learn how to collaborate in order to create something beautiful. A production assistance residency allows a teaching artist to facilitate an area of production including set and props, stage management, and directing. Playwriting residencies introduce students to Aristotelian playwriting and all of the elements that make up great plays. Students learn to hone their storytelling tools and conclude the residency with a staged reading of their plays.
