Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s Resident Touring Company weaves music and storytelling to bring valuable lessons to life through the power of theatre. The following offerings are available throughout the current year:
A SICK DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE (K – 2nd grade) Friendship can be the best medicine when you’re feeling blue. Friends come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In this heart-warming story about the joys of friendship, zookeeper Amos McGee knows friends can come in all sorts of species, too. Every day, Amos visits his animal friends at the zoo, running races with the tortoise, caring for a particularly shy penguin, and reading stories to an owl. One day, Amos is too sick to visit his zoo friends, but fortunately, the animals know just what to do. Themes: compassion, friendship, kindness
CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER BULLY (3rd grade & up) A tough subject takes center stage and explores how to heal after the hurt. When Katie, who never considered herself a bully, repeatedly teases classmate Monica, it pushes their friendship to a tipping point. Katie’s hurtful words and behavior lead her to the principal’s office to deal with the consequence of her with a counselor. Will she be able to salvage a friendship and regain the trust of her peers? Told from the perspective of the bully and the bullied, this story makes everyone consider how they treat others and want to be treated themselves. Themes: bullying, friendship
