In this performance, students will experience a locally written Theatre for Young Audiences production of The Many Adventures of Peter Rabbit. Throughout this interactive production, there will be several opportunities for the audience to participate in the action of the story. Students will also have opportunities to respond to and answer questions from the actors. Our cast is made up of four adult professional actors playing multiple roles throughout the production, and the show utilizes several different forms of puppetry to tell the story. Our production also tours with a stage manager and show director.

Throughout the play students will learn about garden vegetables and animals, new vocabulary, and with the help of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, a great deal about types of clothing.

The play runs approximately 40 minutes in its entirety. Following the performance, if the school has additional time, the actors and on-site production team would be happy to offer a few minutes to do an after-show talkback and answer students’ questions about the production and/or working in theatre.

Artist Background

Seed Art Share is a local nonprofit theatre company. Seed’s mission is “creating community through interactive theatre, arts education, and parent-artist support programs.” Seed produces many interactive shows throughout the year at various locations throughout the Triangle area. These plays have been performed online, in gardens, parks, historic buildings, museums, downtown streets, warehouses, coffee shops, breweries, and even on a bus. Of the nearly 50 plays that Seed Art Share has produced, all but two, The Miracle Worker and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, were written by local playwrights. Seed offers theatre technique classes and workshops that integrate drama skills with academic curricula. Seed also partners with local municipalities to provide track-out and summer camps. Seed works to support caregivers and families attending and working in our local theatre community. This often includes childcare programs during matinee performances with partnering theatre companies. Childcare and education programs during the length of entire festivals or rehearsal processes. Childcare services have even been provided during an actor’s audition or callback.
