Around the world in 45 minutes: a multi-lingual program that discusses: Geography, Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading, International Studies, Character Education, Foreign Languages and/or Environmental Science. An entertaining, international, dynamic program that weaves the power of dance, theatre, music and storytelling together. As the bamboo flute sounds, open up your imagination and prepare to embark on our journey. Travel back in time and across the world, landing in a time when animals could talk and some people could understand them! Dance through the streets of Brazil, Mexico, India and even the United States. Walk away ready to say “hello”ť in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Hindi. Leave the program with the knowledge of what a folk tales is and the desire to read, write and even tell other stories. Tales told are customized based on the Common Core focus area selected and the grade level(s) of the audience. Story Tapestries custom designs shows to serve all pre K-12 grade students and their families. Youngest children: engages the students throughout the show by taking them on a trip around the world and back in time; they have the chance to act out the story. Upper elementary and middle school students: they find themselves wrapped in the story and focused on the drama of “What happens next?” Older students: The performer builds in sections of the program that highlight how the performers have managed to craft the stories and publish the work. One of the Story Tapestries’ Ensemble will be scheduled to perform per the needs of the school.

Artist Background

Story Tapestries and Arianna Ross create educational, entertaining, international programs that weave the power of dance, storytelling, writing, visual art and theatre. Arianna and her ensemble uses the tools of their art forms to help youth foster a deeper connection to the subjects they’re learning and to guide educators to increase their effectiveness by incorporating arts-based strategies in their lesson plans. For 20 years they have performed and taught in schools, colleges, community centers, and concert halls. They custom design every program to fit the age and needs of the audience. They have performed for over 1 million individuals. They have executed innovative, custom-designed performances, workshops and hands-on community and educational experiences across the United States, Canada, India, Vietnam, and Brazil in festivals, concert halls, schools, community centers and hospitals. Some of those venues have included The Reach, The National Theatre Family Series, Hillwood Museum, Libraries Across the Country, Multiple Smithsonian National Museums, The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, East TN State University, National Storytelling Festival, National Association of the Educators of Young Children National Conference, Alternate Roots Week, American Alliance for Theatre and Education. They believe in the power of the arts to Empower, Educate and Engage.
