Jazz Tales featuring the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and Trinity Bursey

In this extraordinary collaboration, Trinity Bursey will read and present her beloved children’s book, “The Day the Instruments Split”. with a live ‘soundtrack’ by the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra (18 musicians), led by Gregg Gelb, performing Gelb’s original music. The music is carefully crafted to compliment the themes of the book, which include the value of collaboration, the chaos that ensues when people fail to understand and appreciate each other, and the beauty that flows from diversity and harmony. Additionally a video of the book is shown either above the band or beside the band as Trinity reads the book. The video shows each page of the book but with animated characters.

This unique event is a testament to the power of music and storytelling in bringing communities together and celebrating each other. The program is about 40 minutes long and it includes Q & A and audience participation.
