Space Requirements

Set up on the floor of the gym or multipurpose room. Drums, percussion instruments and chairs will be set up on the floor in a circle.

Tech Requirements

Load-in and set-up starts 2 hours before the first workshop. Schools will need to provide chairs for the program. Sound system is provided with a wireless microphone for the performer.

Fee Structure

$1,925 fee includes 6 drumming workshops for each grade level scheduled during the entire school day. Workshops are best at 50min, but can be 40min-60min in length. We can take over the Specials (Art-Music-PE) schedule for the day. Program fee includes all travel costs to visit your school.

Dancing Drum School Drum Day

Dancing Drum’s School Drum Day program gives all students at a school the opportunity to play 6 different types of drums and percussion instruments! Each grade level of students take part in their own drumming workshop scheduled throughout the school day. Students experience the thrill of making music together with their classmates as they move through the 6 different instrument sections. Each drumming workshop features exciting rhythms, vocal chants, musical games and teamwork activities designed to keep students engaged, learning, and having a blast! This is an amazing, interactive program your entire school will thoroughly enjoy! Schools can choose a “Drumming Up Character” or “Drumming Up World Music” focus for their School Drum Day program. The “Drumming Up Character” focus enriches your school’s character education initiative through rhythm, song, and dance! This high energy, interactive program engages students through hip drum rhythms, character rap songs, and exciting dance routines about Fairness, Caring, Responsibility and Respect. The “Drumming Up World Music” focus takes students on an interactive musical journey to learn about rhythms from Africa, the Caribbean, South America and the United States! Listen to the sounds of African drums, steel pan, bells, shakers and blocks as we showcase these fascinating musical traditions of the world.

Dancing Drum’s Musical Director and Teaching Artist, Steve Campbell, will lead the School Drum Day program.

Dancing Drum’s mission is to EDUCATE, ENTERTAIN, and INSPIRE people of all ages through interactive, percussion-based programming and materials. We are a comprehensive resource for schools and other organizations that wish to incorporate drumming into their instructional day. Since our founding in 2002, we have aimed to set a national standard for innovative, integrated arts education for schools. Dancing Drum’s approach is inclusive, positive, musical, and fun! We offer several program themes for schools including multi-cultural awareness and character education. Drumming is not only about making music, it’s also a medium through which students can work together to build school community, learn to focus in a dynamic environment, and enjoy an energetic and productive outlet for creative self-expression.
