Amazing Women of History Portrayals

Amazing Women of History Portrayals

Step back in time and “meet” some gutsy and inspirational women of history who are excellent role models. In these performances, students will interact with a “real” woman from history, hearing about her life and the times, and then have the opportunity to ask questions! Some students may help demonstrate events she experienced, such Nellie Bly’s attempt at elephant training or dancing with Mary Lincoln.

Mrs. Peterson tours original one-woman shows, based on her research about:
*Ground-breaking reporter & adventurer Nellie Bly (late 1800s, early 1900s, women’s suffrage, early travel, reporting)
*First Lady Mary Lincoln (Civil War, Abraham Lincoln)
*Founding Mother Abigail Adams (Revolutionary War, women’s rights, US Constitution)
*Child star & diplomat Shirley Temple Black (Great Depression, Cold War, diplomacy, Hollywood)
*The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Heroine of the Titanic (early 1900s, women’s suffrage)
*First female Cabinet Member Frances Perkins (Great Depression, women in politics, women’s suffrage, Social Security, labor relations, refugees, New Deal)
*World-Renowned Singer, Jenny Lind (Mid-1800s, overcoming hardships, empathy)
*WWII Spy Virginia Hall (WWII, espionage, overcoming hardships)
