In this residency, students will form a comprehensive frame of reference consisting history, art history, 2Dvisual languages and the use of critical thinking to guide their experience as they help design and implement a mural.
The residency will consist of two parts. The first part will address in a classroom setting, the necessary history/art history, cultural themes and context, and appropriate 2D visual languages used in the mural tradition. Lectures are facilitated with slide presentations and drawing excercises to illustrate ideas.
The second half is where the students work with Peter Marin in shaping the narrative, and collaborating by designing and painting the mural. Design workshops helps produce the process of planning and designing a mural and painting workshops help the sutdent understand the process further.
