Space Requirements

An open space (indoors or outdoors, weather permitting) that will accommodate all of the students standing with arms outstretched. For virtual classes, students will need a few feet in each direction.

Tech Requirements

We can provide sound system & microphone or use school’s sound system (with auxiliary connection & wireless microphone) Projector or large TV screen with connection form computer is required.

$900 for one 45-minute session
$1,200 for two 45-minute sessions in the same day

Rhythms of the Latin World – Performance

Discover the captivating cultures of Latin America through a dynamic lecture demonstration! Students will engage with artists and educators from Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, learning about the region’s geography, biology, and artistic expressions through authentic music and dance. They will explore traditional rhythms and their influence on popular music, and witness the region’s cultural and natural richness through examples of food, clothing, animals, and languages. Tailored to your school’s curriculum and available in English, Spanish, or a combination of both, this performance is designed for groups of up to 250 students.

Artist Background

Led by Artistic Director Andre Avila from Bogota, Colombia, ComMotion’s teaching artists hail from countries across Latin America and have many years of experience sharing their cultures through their diverse music and dance. ComMotion has led programs for over 45,000 people of all ages and abilities around the world. Programs are adaptable to nearly any space, and can be taught in English and Spanish. Virtual programs utilize green screen technology to create an immersive learning experience. Our partners include schools across North Carolina, The Kennedy Center, and the US State Department. We are the recipient of the 2023 North Carolina Peace Prize from the NC Peace Corp Association. The prize honors a community-based, nonprofit organization whose work reflects the values of public awareness, education, cross-cultural understanding and community service.
