Looking back on 2022, United Arts has much to be grateful for this year. Thanks to our partnerships with Wake County, Wake schools, Wake municipalities, the NC Arts Council, individual and corporate supporters, and so many more, we were able to:
- Facilitate 10-week paid internships for five undergraduate students from backgrounds underrepresented in arts leadership
- Create new program that awarded $144,435 for 16 Community Spotlight Grants
- Award $100,094 in grants to 69 individual artists in five local counties
- Partner with WCPSS for in-person Pieces and Gifts of Gold this past spring
- Facilitate 306 Artists in Schools programs in 113 Wake Schools for 95K students and fund 32 Wheels on the Bus field trips to local cultural destinations (21/22 school year)
- Complete a mural in Knightdale by Sarahlaine Calva
- Attend and present at the National Leadership Exchange in Arts & Disability (LEAD) Conference
- Provide $387,000 in arts programming grants to 46 arts organizations & towns (for 21/22)
- Raise $265K for the arts in the Triangle during Big Night in for the Arts
- Provide four Arts Integration workshops for teachers
- Host our Artists in Schools Expo in-person after two virtual years
- Provide eight schools with bluegrass performances during IBMA festival
Also this year we welcomed our new President and CEO, Jenn McEwen, in August. She is already firmly planted in Wake County’s cultural landscape, and with her experience and passion for the arts, Jenn is sure to lead United Arts to even greater successes in the new year.We hope you have a safe and wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year! Without supporters like you, we could not continue to make art happen across Wake County. Thank you for being our champion! |
