May First Friday Featuring Poetry Night

Join United Arts Council for our May First Friday Exhibit and Reception on May 5 from 6-8 PM at our office, 410 Glenwood Ave., Suite 170, Raleigh. Please note that although the address is Glenwood Ave, the entrance and parking lot are on Tucker Street, which crosses Glenwood Avenue. Featuring Poetry Night and Open Mic Reading with 2017 Piedmont Laureate Mimi Herman

Join us for a delightful evening of hands-on poetry. We’ll explore two different types of poetry–ekphrasis (poems about art) and word bowl poetry–with Mimi as your guide, then share our poems in an open mic reading. Poetry night is open to brand-new and experienced poets of all ages. Bring your best friend, your children, your great-aunt Edna, and discover how easy and fun it is to write poetry.

The  Visual Art Exhibit features mixed media by Sheila Hall. 

A portion of VAE's Project Postcard will also be on display featuring postcard designs from students at the following schools:
