Found Subject Poems & Found Object Boxes: How Poetry and Art Can Play with the Curriculum
Join artist extraordinaire Barbi Bailey Smith and Piedmont Laureate Mimi Herman to discover how creating poetry and art can give your students new insights into the curriculum–and into themselves. You'll recycle words, ideas and objects to build found poems and "poetry boxes" in the style of the innovative artist Joseph Cornell, and bring back teaching techniques you can use immediately in your classroom.

Who: Open to any Wake County elementary educator with any level of arts experience

For more than 10 years, the United Arts Council has provided arts integration professional development for Wake County elementary teachers. Through stand-alone workshops and full-week intensives, United Arts designs these opportunities to aid teachers in engaging their students in active learning.
