Arts Integration Workshop for Middle School Educators

Escape the Room, using the Brilliance of Technology and Arts Integration

Monday, June 18, 2018

Based on the popular “Escape the Room” game, come explore an augmented reality perfect for middle school! Through a daring and creative "escape" that focuses on cellular structure, teachers will learn how to adopt the concepts to focus on any area of the curriculum, including ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies and the Arts. During this workshop, teachers will use arts integration strategies to escape an augmented digital room. After escaping the room, participants will use the information they've acquired and the visual arts to complete a comprehensive demonstration of their understanding of cells. Kim Silbaugh, a visual artist who embraces technology and arts integration, will lead this workshop. Teachers will leave this workshop with a beautiful acrylic painting as well as the means to create their own augmented "escape the room" experience that can be used in all content areas as either a formative or summative assessment.
