DESCRIPTION:When: 3:00-5:00 pm \nDate: Sunday\, April 19\, 2026 \nBe prepared to have fun and get messy. This workshop we will use food such as oranges\, celery and potatoes to make unexpected shapes using colors we choose. You will take home lots of little pieces of art. This is the perfect event for the whole family to come and have fun. \nFamily Studio Sundays are free workshops for military-connected families with children – including National Gaurd and Reserve families – to create together and take home the craft on the same day. The project will take about 20-30 minutes to complete\, so stop by anytime during the workshop\, but please arrive by 4:30 pm. We will have coloring pages for children under 4 years old. Registration is preferred but not required.

This particular class is for military-connected women over 18 years or older. \nNeedle Punch Patch: \nNeedle punch is a yarn craft that is easy to learn\, repetitive enough to use for meditation\, and a wonderful outlet for creativity! Needle punching is heavy on texture and color\, allowing for an endless designs and concepts. In this class\, you will learn to needle punch using a small embroidery design then turn your small masterpiece into a usable patch to iron onto your clothes for a punch of personality! If patches aren’t your thing\, the small piece can also be made into a brooch with a pin backing. Either way\, you will have a small piece you can add to your clothing. These patches/brooches use cotton embroidery thread so once you learn the technique\, you’ll be off and running with your own designs! We will roll our own slabs of clay\, incorporate textures on their surfaces\, and shape the form by hand to hand-build your origami trinket tray. \nPLEASE NOTE: your piece will not be finished/take-home ready on the day of class–it must dry and then be kiln-fired and glazed off-site. SUMMARY:Fiber Arts: A Bag To Die For (Women Only)
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to naturally dye fabrics to transform a simple bag into accessory art. Make a personalized tote bag using a pocket face made from naturally dyed fabrics. Your unique textile collage pocket will bear artwork made from stitch meditations from your own hand as you learn from the instructor\, Grace McFetters Caldwell\, how to use specialized stitches to create a composition then apply to the tote bag as a pocket. No one in the world will have a matching tote bag like yours\, and you’ll be learning skills like dyeing with natural materials like plants and bugs and hand stitching techniques that can be used every day to embellish\, mend\, and create. \nStudents will participate in the Spring Student Showcase in May 2025 to showcase their work. \nSpecific dates: 1/13\, 1/27\, 2/3\, 2/10\, 2/24\, 3/3 (make up date 3/10) \nSKIP 1/20 (MLK Day) and 2/17 (Presidents Day) \nA make up date will be used if a class is canceled due to the instructor’s illness\, inclement weather\, or an emergency.
