Also on the program is Felix Mendelssohn’s seldom heard “The First Walpurgis Night” which tells the treacherous tale of a Druid pagan masquerade. We conclude with Alexander Borodin’s exotic Polovtsian dances from his opera “Prince Igor.” Join the 170-voice Chorale\, full symphonic orchestra\, soloists\, and narrator for this spectacular program.

DESCRIPTION:La fanciulla del West\nMusic by Giacomo Puccini\nLibretto by Guelfo Civinini and Carlo Zangarini\, based on the play The Girl of the Golden West by David Belasco. \nThe Gold Rush is on and the rules are off in Puccini’s wild west opera. Minnie’s saloon is the one place in town where the lawless gold seekers settle down and put their differences aside. But all that changes when a stranger rides into town and steals Minnie’s heart. \nTHE GIRL OF THE GOLDEN WEST in Concert runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including one intermission.\nPerformed in Italian with English supertitles.
