[Raleigh, NC]—This year the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County turns 30. To celebrate their decades of making art happen in Wake County, they are hosting a 30th anniversary gala on October 12, 2019 at the Talley Student Union State Ballroom at North Carolina State University. All proceeds from the event support United Arts Council's Artists in Schools program.
The evening, with special guest Clay Aiken and emcee Hayes Permar (co-host of Sports Channel 8 's The Radio Show), will spotlight performances by the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, the cast of NRACT's Lady Day at the Emerson's Bar and Grill, rapper and writer, Baba Bomani, and more. The live auction will include trips to Italy and New York City, and a "Build Your Bar" wall will feature local beer, wine and liquor.
The gala will also honor United Arts Council's longtime president and CEO, Eleanor H. Oakley, for her past 18 years leading the arts non-profit and her lifelong dedication to the arts. Eleanor retires at the end of January 2020.
Artfully curated silent auction packages include arts experiences such as a graduation party with a hip-hop band, behind the scenes tours of theaters and museums, tea with the Sugar Plum fairy or an author's visit to a book club.
