Special Opportunity to Meet and Hire Artists at Upcoming Booking Fair

[Raleigh, N.C.]  – The annual Cultural Arts Booking Fair will be Saturday, August 12 at Wakefield High School in Raleigh from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. The fair is presented by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and will feature approximately 80 professional artists from across the country with youth programming. Each artist has a booth set up in a trade-show format, at which attendees can mingle and meet artists. Approximately 40 artists also participate in the showcase, held throughout the day, in which they present and perform brief excerpts of programs.

Most Wake County elementary schools will have at least one representative in attendance. The fair is a great opportunity for families to see the artists who present programming in schools throughout the year.

This event gives teachers, parents, civic leaders and arts organizations the opportunity to experience the many different artists and performances available for hire throughout the year. Wake County schools are eligible to receive partial funding for the artists they book through the United Arts Council’s Artists in Schools grants.

“United Arts continues to be so proud of this event each year because it not only helps to enhance the lives of children through the arts, but it is also an amazing resource for artists and those seeking an artist for their own programming,” said Eleanor H. Oakley, President and CEO of United Arts Council.

The booking fair is free and open to the public.  Representatives from schools (faculty, administration, PTA), organizations, communities, venues, parks, businesses, and children are all welcome to attend! Any questions, contact Helen Meyer at [email protected] or (919) 839-1498, ext. 210.
