Our friends at Trophy Brewing, in collaboration with artist Georges Le Chevallier, created a new craft beer – Art Unfiltered - to benefit local artists through our Artist Support Grants. These grants fund professional and artistic development for emerging and established artists to create work, improve their business operations, or bring their work to new audiences.

Not only did Trophy want to brew a beer that would raise money for the local artists, but they also wanted to brew an incredibly delicious beer. Art Unfiltered is a New England IPA, with a recipe that is built on Maris Otter malts and furiously dry-hopped in equal amounts Galaxy and El Dorado hops. It has the aromas of sweet tropical fruits like pineapple and mango and continental fruits like peach and orange.

United Arts Council’s Artist Support Grants support a broad range of talented artists in the disciplines of visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, and interdisciplinary arts. This past year United Arts awarded over $83,000 to 62 artists – three times more than the previous year. The Artist Support Grantees received funds to complete work for exhibitions, buy new equipment, create websites, attend workshops, pay for studio space, and so much more. With the support of Trophy Brewing, Inc., the NC Arts Council, and Raleigh Arts, United Arts hopes to match or exceed last year’s total to support local artists.

United Arts is grateful to Chris Powers, Woody Lockwood, David Meeker, and everyone at Trophy Brewing for being champions of the arts and supporting artists in their community.

For a limited time, Art Unfiltered will be on draft and sold in cans (16 oz four packs) at the Maywood Trophy Brewery. Cans will also be available for sale at Trophy on Morgan Street, Young Hearts Distilling, State of Beer, and at the locations below.
