SUMMARY:Bluegrass Fiddle Workshop with Zoe & Cloyd
DESCRIPTION:Learn bluegrass fiddle with Natalya Zoe Weinstein and John Cloyd Miller of Zoe & Cloyd. The duo will also open our Down Home Concert with Willie Watson on Friday\, March 21. \nThis workshop is part of a series designed to support traditional artists from the 26 counties in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene. As the storm rampaged through Western North Carolina last September\, traditional music was among the cultural treasures it threatened. Popular gathering spots for music-making were damaged or destroyed\, and in some cases folks lost beloved instruments to the floods. But like so much else in that region\, the music found a way to keep going\, and PineCone is happy to play a part. Several of our 2025 Down Home Concerts will feature an opening set by Western North Carolina traditional musicians\, showcasing both the music and its unstoppable spirit. The visiting musicians will also host workshops like this one to teach their skills to players in the Piedmont\, focusing on ballad singing\, old-time banjo\, old-time fiddle\, and bluegrass fiddle. \nLearn more about Zoe & Cloyd here.

SUMMARY:PineCone Open Bluegrass Jam
DESCRIPTION:The monthly PineCone Bluegrass Jam is a “circle jam\,” where musicians gather in a circle and play together. Tunes are played up to speed and everyone interested in playing bluegrass instruments is  welcome. \nThis jam will be held outdoors when weather permits. TransferCo has a beautiful patio\, with lots of room for pickers and spectators alike. There’s also a spacious ballroom just off the Food Hall that’s got room for a nice sized circle. \nJam leader Ron Raxter is pictured far left playing the upright bass. (photo by Tom Beck)\nFacilitated Ron Raxter\, the repertoire includes both instrumentals and vocal songs. Ron is one of PineCone’s founding members and is active in a number of local jams. He’s a retired attorney\, bass player and was part of the local organizing committee that helped recruit IBMA’s World of Bluegrass to Raleigh. \nIn the colder months the jam is held in the TransferCo Ballroom. (photo by Maurice Melvin)\nWhether you’re a first-time jammer or a veteran\, you’re welcome to learn the tunes and play along\, or just listen and observe! However\, please note that this is not a “learning” or “slow” jam. If you want to play at a slower tempo you might want to check out our monthly “Beginners’ Jam” at Harry’s Guitar Shop.  Regardless\, this is a great place to meet other musicians who share your enthusiasm for bluegrass. \nPlease remember – every jam is different! This jam tends to draw a big crowd\, and it is open to musicians of all skill levels. Please help us make sure that newer players feel welcome! Also\, big\, mixed level jams can be challenging. Patience and kindness are appreciated! \nThe PineCone Bluegrass Jam meets on the fourth Monday of each month at Transfer Co. Food Hall in downtown Raleigh.

SUMMARY:8th Annual KoreaFest 2025 Cultural Festival
DESCRIPTION:KoreaFest is an annual Korean cultural festival held in Raleigh\, North Carolina\, hosted by InWave\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to “Celebrating Unity Through Korean Culture”. As the first organization of its kind in North Carolina\, InWave successfully launched KoreaFest in February of 2017. For the past seven years\, KoreaFest has consistently offered educational opportunities\, experimental arts\, and cultural experiences that expose the beauty of Korea. \nKoreaFest’s core values align with InWave’s conviction that a united society is cultivated through the sharing of cultures without boundaries. We recognize arts and culture as an integral part of a society that encourages creativity\, individuality\, and inclusivity. Our commitment to giving back to the community is demonstrated through our support of local cultural initiatives\, volunteer work at community events\, and donations to local organizations. Building on the concept of the ‘Hallyu’ (Korean Wave)\, InWave’s KoreaFest harnesses popular Korean culture to facilitate inter-community collaboration\, communication\, and understanding\, leveraging the ‘Hallyu’ as a tool for human development and cross-cultural connection. \nKoreaFest serves as a conduit for artists to share their cultural traditions and art forms with attendees\, promoting cross-cultural exchange\, increasing cultural understanding\, and spreading the love for Korean culture. Specifically\, we harbor activities and performances such as traditional Korean dance\, K-pop dance competitions\, dance parties\, and more! Alongside activities and performances\, we offer a variety of vendors ranging from popular Korean food to Korean merchandise of all kinds\, like K-Pop merchandise and K-Beauty products. We hope to see you at our festival this upcoming spring! You surely won’t want to miss it!

SUMMARY:Parents' Day Out with Seed Art Share
DESCRIPTION:Support parents in theatre while you attend a local matinee! Parents and caregivers can enjoy an afternoon out around Raleigh while your kids (ages 4-11) enjoy puppet-themed crafts and games with Seed Art Share’s teaching artists! \nThis event is a fundraiser for Seed Art Share\, a 15-year-old Raleigh-based nonprofit dedicated to creating community through interactive theatre\, arts education\, and parent-artist support programs. Seed is known throughout the Triangle for their Share the Show program\, which enables parents to see a local performance while their children have an onsite\, tailored experience exploring the themes of the show in an age-appropriate way with their theatre-for-young-audiences professionals. Seed’s team of CPR and first aid -trained professionals also provide rehearsal childcare so parents can be onstage; provide camps and activities through local arts organizations; and produce family-centric immersive theatre across the Triangle. Founded by an actor-director-mom of three\, Renee Wimberley\, Seed is passionate about enabling the whole family to enjoy the magic of theatre. \nThe event will last 5 hours from 1pm-6pm and costs $70 for the first child\, and $45 for each additional child in the family. Drop-ins are permitted at $25/hr per child for the first child and $20/hr per child for each additional child in the family. The event will be held at the City of Raleigh Museum\, located at 220 Fayetteville St. in Downtown Raleigh. \nBy participating in Parent’s Day Out with Seed you are helping Seed continue to produce impactful theatre and provide caregivers with theatre access.
