SUMMARY:PineCone Open Bluegrass Jam
DESCRIPTION:The monthly PineCone Bluegrass Jam is a “circle jam\,” where musicians gather in a circle and play together. Tunes are played up to speed and everyone interested in playing bluegrass instruments is  welcome. \n \nThis jam will be held outdoors when weather permits. TransferCo has a beautiful patio\, with lots of room for pickers and spectators alike. There’s also a spacious ballroom just off the Food Hall that’s got room for a nice sized circle. \nJam leader Ron Raxter is pictured far left playing the upright bass. (photo by Tom Beck)\nFacilitated Ron Raxter\, the repertoire includes both instrumentals and vocal songs. Ron is one of PineCone’s founding members and is active in a number of local jams. He’s a retired attorney\, bass player and was part of the local organizing committee that helped recruit IBMA’s World of Bluegrass to Raleigh. \nIn the colder months the jam is held in the TransferCo Ballroom. (photo by Maurice Melvin)\nWhether you’re a first-time jammer or a veteran\, you’re welcome to learn the tunes and play along\, or just listen and observe! However\, please note that this is not a “learning” or “slow” jam. If you want to play at a slower tempo you might want to check out our monthly “Beginners’ Jam” at Harry’s Guitar Shop.  Regardless\, this is a great place to meet other musicians who share your enthusiasm for bluegrass. \nPlease remember – every jam is different! This jam tends to draw a big crowd\, and it is open to musicians of all skill levels. Please help us make sure that newer players feel welcome! Also\, big\, mixed level jams can be challenging. Patience and kindness are appreciated! \nThe PineCone Bluegrass Jam meets on the fourth Monday of each month at Transfer Co. Food Hall in downtown Raleigh.

SUMMARY:Northeast Piedmont Chorale Spring Concert “Songs of Freedom”
DESCRIPTION:🎶Experience the Heartbeat of Liberty: “Songs of Freedom” 🎶\nThere is no more powerful human story than the quest for liberty\, and this spring\, the Northeast Piedmont Chorale invites you to explore that journey through the universal language of music. \nOur Spring 2026 concert series\, “Songs of Freedom\,” is more than just a performance—it is a musical meditation on what it means to be free. From the quiet\, inner longing for peace to the grand\, earth-shaking celebration of a nation\, we are lifting our voices to honor the struggle\, the hope\, and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. \nA Journey in Four Parts\nUnder the direction of Bryant Moxley and accompanied by Kristen Allred\, we have curated a program that explores every facet of freedom: \nThe Roots of Liberty: We begin with the foundation of our heritage\, featuring the majestic orchestral arrangements of Dan Forrest’s My Country\, ‘Tis of Thee and Randall Thompson’s profound Testament of Freedom. \nThe Weight of the Struggle: Music often speaks where words fail. We explore the poignant reality of “Freedom Lost” and the deep\, soulful yearning of “Freedom Sought” through moving pieces like James Green’s North Wind and Rosephanye Powell’s I Dream a World. \nThe Joy of the People: Experience the rhythmic pulse of South African tradition with Freedom is Coming\, a song that reminds us that the hope for liberty is a global heartbeat. \nThe Triumph of Community: We conclude with a stirring celebration of our republic and a grand finale of America the Beautiful that will leave you feeling inspired and connected to your neighbors. \nWhether you come for the power of a full orchestra\, the intimacy of a cappella voices\, or the infectious energy of world percussion\, you will find a story that resonates with your own heart. \nJoin Us—Admission is Free\nWe invite our community to come together for this 70-minute journey. Bring your friends and family for an evening that is as thought-provoking as it is joyful. \nFriday\, May 1st at 7:30pm Wake Forest Baptist Church \n107 E. South Ave\, Wake Forest\, NC \nSaturday\, May 2nd at 7:30pm Trinity Baptist Church \n4815 Six Forks Rd\, Raleigh\, NC \nWe believe freedom is a song worth singing together.
We can’t wait to share it with you!
