The first half of the concert features Michael John Trotta’s For A Breath of Ecstasy\, a seven-movement celebration of the wondrous poetry of American Pulitzer Prize-winning poet\, Sara Teasdale. Vivid imagery and moments of yearning\, love\, joy\, and peace are revealed through an individual’s relationship to nature and in love. With Allen Bailey on piano and Bo Newsome on oboe. \nThe second half of the concert consists of exquisite choral favorites that take your breath away\, including motets by Bruckner and Rheinberger\, Tichelli’sThere Will Be Rest\, Kirchner’s arrangement of Bright Morning Stars\, Harris’ I am Loved\, and more. \nThe CSC Chamber Choir is an advanced ensemble consisting of members of the CSC Symphonic Choir and additional local singers\, including many public-school music teachers.

Your unique textile collage pocket will bear artwork made from stitch meditations from your own hand as you learn from the instructor\, Grace McFetters Caldwell\, how to use specialized stitches to create a composition then apply to the tote bag as a pocket. SUMMARY:High School Spoken Word Competition Reception
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Raleigh Fine Arts Society\, the Spoken Word Competition for High School Students has returned for a second year. Students across Wake\, Orange\, and Durham Counties were invited to write an original poem and submit a video of their performance of their poem to be adjudicated by a panel of professional poets. Winners will be honored at a reception at the NC Museum of Art and the top three scoring poems will be awarded cash prizes.

SUMMARY:Conversations Between Four Black Abolitionist Music-Makers
DESCRIPTION:United Strings of Color is presenting an immersive experience of Black history using music\, theatre\, and mixed media arts to educate about the lives\, countries\, times\, systemic laws\, and iconic contributions of the four Black abolitionists: Ignatius Sancho\, Joseph Bologne “Chevalier”\, Solomon Northrup and Frederick Douglass. Pre-show interactive immersive activities will take place in the lobby of the SECU Auditorium at the showtime listed\, with the theatrical production beginning one hour later. Throughout the production\, USC groups will play music either composed by the historical figures themselves\, associated with them in historical documentation\, or of the era in which they lived. Following the formal presentation\, the audience will be invited to converse with our musical Black abolitionists and engage further in the discoveries the production uncovers.

Your unique textile collage pocket will bear artwork made from stitch meditations from your own hand as you learn from the instructor\, Grace McFetters Caldwell\, how to use specialized stitches to create a composition then apply to the tote bag as a pocket. DESCRIPTION:Come join us as Donnie “Rahnàwakęw” McDowell leads the presentation\, “Surviving Extinction: Land Claims & Tuscarora Treaties”\, which analyzes the unique relationships the ancestors of the Tuscarora Nation established with the colonial government of the State of North Carolina. \nBy placing a lens on the original agreements made between the Tuscarora and the new coming colonists\, we better comprehend the diplomatic strategies and cultural philosophies of each culture. Discussions include ancient Tuscarora archaeological sites across the State\, conflict with Europeans during the colonial era\, the establishment of Wake County and the City of Raleigh\, and the NC Assembly’s longstanding policy of Tuscarora disenfranchisement.
