SUMMARY:Grease
DESCRIPTION:Cary Players presents Grease \nHere is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed\, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys’ and their gum-snapping\, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers\, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’\,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie\,” recalling the music of Buddy Holly\, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.

SUMMARY:Raleigh Wide Open Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:Raleigh Wide Open is a new event with a long history. It will feature all of the elements that people around Raleigh loved about the festival PineCone produced with IBMA over the last 12-years. The highlight of the weekend will be the huge\, free street festival showcasing music that is culturally rich\, rooted in community and broad in appeal. It will be inclusive\, diverse and reflect the entire city it’s intended to serve. \nRaleigh Wide Open is a name that dates back to 2006\, when downtown Raleigh experienced a cultural renaissance. Fayetteville Street re-opened to traffic\, and just a few years later\, the new Raleigh Convention Center opened its doors and Red Hat Amphitheater provided a vital new music venue. Since that time\, Fayetteville Street has been “Wide Open” for festivals\, bringing music\, art\, sports fans and neighbors together. This latest iteration of Raleigh Wide Open will carry on in that tradition as we usher in a vibrant new era for downtown Raleigh. \nThere’s an FAQ about the festival here. \nThe Raleigh Wide Open website is here. \n \n  \n
