SUMMARY:Women's Only Needle Felting: Sculpting & Painting with Wool
DESCRIPTION:When: Mondays\, 1:00pm – 4:00pm \nDates: Mon: 3/9; 3/16; 3/23 \nPlease Note: All classes and workshops are for Military Connected Individuals who are 18 years or older. This particular class is for military-connected women over 18 years or older. \nWool can be used as a medium to paint a landscape or a portrait or be sculpted into a 3-dimensional piece of art! This unique art has been used to illustrate children’s books and in stop-motion animation. Artists have begun to truly appreciate the practicality of using this inexpensive natural resource in ornaments\, pin cushions\, pillows\, hanging art\, and much\, much more! \nIn this class\, students will learn the techniques to make both a flat\, 2-dimensional picture and a 3-dimensional sculpture piece. Students will develop self-expression through manipulation of colors and textures of wool. \nWe offer scholarships for those who cannot afford the registration fee. This is a great opportunity for participants to learn basic jam etiquette before jumping into a traditional jam. We’ll spend the first hour playing together in a single large group\, stopping frequently to discuss the songs. The second hour\, we like to break off into two smaller groups and put our new jam skills into practice! \nFacilitator Jef Walter is a local musician who plays with Hank Smith & the Beer & Banjos All-Stars (every Tuesday at The Raleigh Times Bar) and other groups; he also mentors The Loblollies youth bluegrass band.
