SUMMARY:The Music Man Sr.
DESCRIPTION:RALEIGH\, NC — July 23\, 2025 — Dancing Man Productions\, a Raleigh-based theatre company\ncreated for performers aged 55 and up\, proudly announces its second production\, The Music Man SR.—a\njoyful\, 60-minute adaptation of the beloved Broadway classic. Presented in partnership with Raleigh\nLittle Theatre\, all rehearsals and performances will take place at Raleigh Little Theatre’s fully accessible\ncampus.\nBased on Meredith Willson’s six-time Tony Award–winning musical comedy\, The Music Man SR.\nfeatures some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit\, warmth\, and good\nold-fashioned romance. Family entertainment at its best\, this bold and brassy production is a toe-tapping\ncrowd-pleaser sure to have the whole town atwitter.\nMaster showman Harold Hill arrives in River City\, Iowa\, with “seventy-six trombones” in tow. The\nfast-talking traveling salesman convinces the townspeople to buy instruments and uniforms for a boys’\nband he vows to organize—despite not knowing a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town\nwith the cash are complicated when he falls for Marian\, the town’s upright and uptight librarian\, whose\nbelief in Harold’s potential just might help him succeed in spite of himself.\nThis vibrant production continues Dancing Man Productions’ mission to reimagine senior participation in\nthe arts by offering daytime rehearsals and matinee performances—eliminating the challenges of\nnighttime travel while fostering a strong\, inclusive creative community.\nAudiences can expect a heartwarming\, high-energy musical experience filled with humor\, nostalgia\, and\ntimeless songs\, performed by a cast of seasoned artists who prove that creativity thrives at every stage of\nlife.

SUMMARY:Beer and Banjos: Nixon\, Williams and Gage
DESCRIPTION:Join us this week for local acoustic trio Nixon\, Williams and Gage. Loosely based in bluegrass\, they present the thumb-picking\, early country music popularized by Doc Watson and Merle Travis. You might recognize Larry Nixon’s voice from his hosting duties with the long-running PineCone Bluegrass Radio Show\, airing Sunday evenings on WQDR.\n\nBeer and Banjos is a free\, family-friendly evening of roots music every Tuesday at Raleigh’s Bowstring Pizza and Brewyard. Hosted by the mighty local musicians known collectively as the Beer and Banjos Allstars\, these weekly concerts feature guest musicians and take place on Bowstring’s spacious patio when the weather allows\, or inside by the bar when rain\, heat\, or cold threaten the vibe. \nTips for the musicians are gratefully accepted (look for a helper walking around with a bucket for cash and QR codes for online tips)\, and don’t forget to check out the merch table. Bowstring serves tasty pizza and other food as well as cold beer and other beverages. \nLearn more about Beer and Banjos events statewide here.
