DESCRIPTION:We’re starting off our new festival with a new way for fellow PineCone members to meet up! We welcome members to arrive early at the Raleigh Wide Open Kickoff Celebration on Thursday evening\, Oct. 2\, at The Corner at NC State’s Centennial Campus for light snacks\, beverages\, first chance to buy festival merch\, and time to visit with fellow PineCone members compare schedules and plans for the festival. Attendance is free\, but we ask that you RSVP so we’re prepared. RSVP here. \nOur event for PineCone members starts at 5 p.m. Gates will open to the general public at 5:30. Come on in\, find a primo spot for your chair\, and visit us in a colorful shipping container (there will be a sign) to pick up a nametag and some goodies. The music will start at 6 p.m.\, with sets from the Barefoot Movement\, Stillhouse Junkies\, and Tray Wellington Band. \nWe’re grateful for our members’ support\, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Raleigh Wide Open weekend!

SUMMARY:Raleigh Wide Open Kickoff Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Is two days of great music just not quite enough? We feel you! That’s why we’re hosting a free Kickoff Celebration for Raleigh Wide Open on Thursday evening\, Oct. 2. Get things started with intimate sets from three of our lineup bands and a chance to meet and mingle with fellow bluegrass lovers at The Corner at NC State’s Centennial Campus. \nGates will open at 5:30 p.m.\, with music starting at 6 p.m. The evening will feature three phenomenal bands – Stillhouse Junkies\, Tray Wellington Band\, and the Barefoot Movement — all with deep ties to Raleigh’s downtown bluegrass festival tradition. \nParking on Centennial Campus is free after 5 p.m.\, with plenty available near The Corner\, a colorful outdoor space located at 941 Main Campus Drive\, at the intersection of Main Campus Drive and Research Drive. The Kickoff Celebration will feature food and beer for purchase\, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own food\, non-alcoholic beverages\, and coolers\, along with chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening. \n\nATTENTION PINECONE MEMBERS: We’re hosting a Member Meetup at this event\, starting at 5 p.m. Please join us for light snacks\, beverages\, first chance to buy Raleigh Wide Open merch\, and some time to mingle with fellow PineCone members. SUMMARY:Raleigh Wide Open Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:Raleigh Wide Open is a new event with a long history. It will feature all of the elements that people around Raleigh loved about the festival PineCone produced with IBMA over the last 12-years. The highlight of the weekend will be the huge\, free street festival showcasing music that is culturally rich\, rooted in community and broad in appeal. It will be inclusive\, diverse and reflect the entire city it’s intended to serve. \nRaleigh Wide Open is a name that dates back to 2006\, when downtown Raleigh experienced a cultural renaissance. Fayetteville Street re-opened to traffic\, and just a few years later\, the new Raleigh Convention Center opened its doors and Red Hat Amphitheater provided a vital new music venue. Since that time\, Fayetteville Street has been “Wide Open” for festivals\, bringing music\, art\, sports fans and neighbors together. DESCRIPTION:Theatre Raleigh’s 2025 musical premiere\, WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND\, is a profound and timely musical exploring the impact of chronic illness on a family. When musical theatre composer Jenny receives a diagnosis of breast cancer\, it seems as though her world has come crashing down around her\, but what a journey she embarks on. Written and composed by husband-and-wife team Jenny Giering and Sean Barry and based upon their shared journey\, WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND is a compelling one-woman musical\, addressing some of the most pressing questions of our time with both heartwarming humor and heart-wrenching honesty. WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND is presented in partnership with Capital Arts Theatre Guild.
