Repurpose, recycle, and reuse discarded materials transforming them into stunning one-of-a-kind beaded pendants. Using an array of materials such as fabric scraps, thread, yarn, plastic bits, plastic bags, wire, and beads, participants will learn traditional crafting techniques that breathe new life into overlooked items. This is an excellent workshop for beginners and intermediates alike, no prior knowledge is required. For ages 13+ (anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult).

Arts on the Block is a new block party for all ages hosted by Artspace celebrating the power of community and visual art. Historic City Market and Davie Street will come alive with local DJs, hands-on artist-led demonstrations, art exhibitions, make + take activities, and a special installation. Shop and eat local with 30 artisan vendors, City Market retail stores and restaurants, and guest food trucks while exploring visual art.

Community members are invited to attend Arts on the Block’s sensory friendly hour from 11:00am-12:00pm with no amplified sound and smaller crowds. Funds raised during Arts on the Block will support Artspace's mission to provide accessible art exhibitions, affordable studio spaces, career-building artist residencies, low and no-cost art education programs, and community events.

Arts on the Block Experiences:

Creativity Block - Participate in hands on artist-led demos, enjoy make + take activities for creatives of all ages and engage with our art & cultural partners.

Social Block - Dance to beats by local DJs, meet our community partners and play lawn games, enjoy pop-up performances brought to you by TheGifted Arts, and pose with our special textile installation.

Food Truck Block - Eat local with guest food trucks and vendors and surrounding City Market restaurants. Sip on beer provided by Trophy Brewing and wine provided by Raleigh Wine Shop. Take a seat at our giant community doodling table or relax in our Rosé Garden.

Market Block - Shop for local art, goods, and gifts with 35 artisan vendors

Inside Artspace - Stroll through our Southern Ceramics exhibitions with work by Andrea Keys Connell and Kevin Kao. Purchase a ceramic cup from the Bottoms Up juried cup show or from our featured ceramic artist, Liz Kelly. Meet and shop with our 30+ studio artists and chill out in our sensory friendly space.

Join us for a delightful hands-on workshop led by our talented Creative Director, Annah Lee. This workshop invites you to explore the beauty of foraged plants and cultivated blooms, perfect for creating stunning, personalized bouquets that any mom would cherish.

Participants will learn about the meanings and uses of different flowers and plants, how to identify, gather, and prepare seasonal plants from your local environments, and then apply techniques for arranging different elements to capture the essence of a place, memory, or person. The class will utilize elements foraged by Annah herself, from natural materials to thrifted vessels along with cultivated blooms from local farmers and gardeners. You’ll learn tips on color harmony, texture, and composition while creating your thoughtful arrangements and sharing stories along the way.

Participants will customize their creation with unique touches, making it a heartfelt gift for Mother’s Day. This workshop is perfect for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned florists. Bring your creativity and a love for nature! All materials and tools will be provided, just bring your enthusiasm and an open mind! Guests are welcome to bring their own vessel, floral snips and flowers if desired.
