In One ERA and Out The Other is a history of 20th century America told through a patriotic, broad-spectrum prism. It is a fast-paced musical cabaret filled with multi-media images from 1901 to 2001. Culminating with the September 11, 2001 attack on America, Teaching Artist Serena Ebhardt refocuses the future with humor and hope. In it’s 50-55 minute student matinee version, “ERA” appeals to to younger audiences through references to pop-culture & curriculum connections; In One ERA is a non-partisan history lesson with emphasis on anti-bullying and civil rights. Using headlines, popular culture, and much more, Serena makes history personal and reveals how Americans come together in life. The student version of “ERA” matches the AP American History curriculum. In One ERA and Out The Other Common Core States Standards adviser, Dr. Larry R. Ferguson, is the former Advanced Placement/ International Baccalaureate and PSAT/SAT Coordinator for Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC.
