Nine abstracts by Sylvia Chung are on display in the United Arts lobby during the month of July. Chung, from Cary, NC, describes her creative process: “My work usually begins with a sketch, followed by a long process of searching to uncover thoughts, and truth that cannot be expressed in mere words. Abstract shape, colors, textures, tones, layering...all aspect of art elements become means of making discoveries about the world and myself. Media is just a tool to express myself, so I have switched from media to media according to my needs. During the process, I have had the most wonderful time, experiencing the joy of creation which comes from my inner mind....I know a piece is done when it begins to emanate its own sense of life—this is when a work begins to have its own soul. Attention to craftsmanship in technique is a natural part of my personality.”
