Art by students from Southeast Raleigh High School’s Visual Art 1: Expressive Art class is on display in the Marilyn J. Harrison lobby gallery of United Arts through the month of November. Students in Jodi Aker’s class incorporate art therapy into the art process and are encouraged to explore their feelings as they learn art techniques.

The 15 works featured are both pastel and watercolor paintings and ceramic sculptures. The paintings were created during a reflective and independent work time in class. The sculptures are works from the Sculpture/Ceramics 1 and 2 classes. The small pieces were created on the potter’s wheel. Tall vessels were hand built using the coil method.
