The Arts Education awardee is Mrs. Vicki Perry, principal of Harris Creek Elementary and formerly of Douglas Creative Arts and Science Magnet Elementary School. Her accomplishments as a successful grant writer to fund multi-grade projects to integrate the arts into the core curriculum and her support of creative expression and various art forms to facilitate learning are major reasons for her selection. Her leadership has forged strong relationships between arts specialists and classroom teachers, providing opportunities for all disciplines to share and communicate their expertise and offer children the best opportunity to learn with the use of art as a tool for instruction.
