Sixteen municipal employees or members of their immediate families won awards in the fourth annual National Arts Program® exhibit and contest for the City of Raleigh and County of Wake. All entries (approximately 50 pieces of art work) are on display through January 4, 2007, on the first two floors of the Municipal Building.
The exhibit and contest are co-sponsored by the National Arts Program®, the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, and the County of Wake and the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, Inc.
This year's exhibit included entries in five categories: amateur, intermediate and professional among adults and two youth categories. Best of Show and first place winners among the adult categories receive $300; second place, $200; and third, $100. Youth first place winners receive $75; second place, $50; third, $25.
Judges for the 2006 exhibit were Rory Parnell, owner of Raleigh Contemporary Gallery and Chair of the Visual Art Exchange Board of Directors, and Sarah Powers, Executive Director, Visual Art Exchange.
