Community Event

United Arts invites the public to enjoy the Labor Day weekend celebration at the beautiful Koka Booth Amphitheater at Regency Park. The event features a free concert by the North Carolina Symphony on Sunday, September 3, at 7 pm, sponsored by WRAL-TV.

Gates open at 4:30 pm for this popular community event, and United Arts will provide activities and entertainment for those arriving early. Pre-show entertainment will include a Kids Chalking area, open from 4:30-7:00 pm, sponsored by United Arts in conjunction with Visual Art Exchange. United Arts will also present a performance by the Raleigh Jazz Orchestra, United Arts' Performing Artists of the Year. The concert will be from 5:00 - 6:30 pm.

The Town of Cary once again hosts Triangle's favorite Labor Day tradition, WRAL's Pops in the Park. Rozlyn Sorrel, soprano, and Leonard Rowe, baritone, join the Symphony on featured selections by Copland and Gershwin.

The concert ends, in keeping with years of tradition, with Tchaikovsky's stirring 1812 Overture and John Philip Sousa's patriotic crowd-pleaser, "The Stars and Stripes Forever." Fireworks launched over Symphony Lake in Regency Park complete the finale.
