Raleigh, N.C. - Eleanor Jordan, President of the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County (United Arts) has announced the addition of new two directors to the board of directors. Candace Covington Olander and Dan R. Hughes have joined the board for a term of three years.
"Both Candace and Dan come to our board with a long history of volunteerism, " said Jordan, "In particular, both have a history as arts supporters and extensive organizational leadership. They are outstanding additions to the United Arts board."
Candace Covington Olander is an active member and former chair of the University of Virginia Club of the Triangle and served as co-executive director of the Miss Raleigh Scholarship Pageant. She and her husband, Michael Olander of Apple Gold Inc., are advocates for the Triangle Wine Experience (benefiting the Frankie Lemmon Foundation). Mrs. Olander is also an active supporter of Carolina Ballet, Wake Education Partnership, SPCA of Wake County, and the Carolina Hurricanes Community Care event.
Dan R. Hughes is a certified public accountant with 35 years of experience. He is a founding partner of Hughes, Pittman, Gupton, L.L.P. His business focuses on business consulting, tax, financial and estate planning services for owner-managed business clients. Hughes is active in professional organizations including the American Institute of CPAs, NC Association of CPAs and as former treasurer of the Triangle Chapter of the NC Association of CPAs. Currently, he sits on the Raleigh Board of Advisors for Capital Bank, and for Raleigh Little Theatre. Hughes serves as a member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development. Previously he has served as a member and officer of Capital Opera Raleigh, Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Haven House, Duke Children's Miracle Network Telethon, Pan Lutheran Ministries and the Raleigh Jaycees.
