United Arts presents its annual Cultural Arts Festival on Saturday, August 26, from 8:30 am-4 pm at Wakefield High School. This showcase and booking fair event showcases artists participating in the Artists in the Schools program and brings together artists, agents, schools and arts organizations. United Arts offers this program to Wake County public, private and charter schools and offers funding to help bring artists into Wake schools for performances, workshops and residencies. School representatives see firsthand a performance sampling of the artists available to the schools. The festival and arts education program are both offered in conjunction with Wake County Public School System.
The event annually attracts over 400 attendees and generates more than $300,000 in artist fees. United Arts, along with school PTAs, brings more than 260 arts events by professional artists to Wake K-12 schools each year. More than 150 parents are volunteer Cultural Arts Representatives to oversee their school's cultural arts programming. United Arts is proud to partner with Wake County PTAs from schools throughout the county.
In addition to school representatives, arts presenters and teachers from nearby counties and the state traditionally attend the United Arts Cultural Arts Festival to experience the demonstrations by high quality artists. Community members are also welcome.
