annual International Festival
From staples in the arts community such as Artspace and Artsplosure to projects by Brooks Museum Magnet Elementary School and Diamante, United Arts continues to recognize the arts as an essential element to a growing Wake community. United Arts grants can be used to support the general operations of an arts organization or for specific arts projects. United Arts will announce additional grants later in the year for Artists in the Schools events, individual artists and communities.
Thirty-five volunteers from Wake and surrounding counties participated in the citizen peer review process of grant applications that began in April 2005. These panels of volunteers, selected for their diverse backgrounds made recommendations to an Appropriations Committee of the United Arts Board of Directors, which made final award decisions in mid June.
