The United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County brings together artists, agents, schools and arts organizations at its annual Cultural Arts Festival on Saturday, August 20, from 8:30 am-4 pm at Wakefield High School. This event showcases artists participating in the Artists in the Schools program of the United Arts Council. United Arts offers funding through this program to Wake County public, private and charter schools to bring artists into Wake schools for performances, workshops and residencies. The Festival allows school representatives to see firsthand a sampling of the artists from the United Arts artists directory.

Last year's event had more than 400 attendees and generated more than $300,000 in artist fees. United Arts, along with school PTAs, helped bring more than 260 arts events to Wake schools in 2004-2005. To date, more than 150 parents have committed to volunteering as Cultural Arts Representatives to oversee their school's cultural arts programming. United Arts is proud to partner with Wake County PTAs from schools throughout the county. In addition to school representatives, arts presenters and teachers from nearby counties and the state traditionally come to the United Arts Cultural Arts Festival to see high quality artists demonstrate the programs they offer. Community members also are welcome to attend this event.
