United Arts supports individual artists through a regional program designed to help advance the recipients' artistic careers by awarding grants for professional development workshops and conferences, equipment, marketing materials and more. These grants are competitive.
This collaborative program for individual artists began in 1996, under the auspices of the North Carolina Arts Council and in collaboration with arts councils in a five-county region. Artists residing in Franklin, Johnston, Wake, Warren and Vance counties are eligible to apply for grants to further their artistic careers.
United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County awarded $21,911 to 20 artists through the 2006-2007 Regional Artist Project Grant Program. For 2007-2008, we awarded $25,004 to 23 artists.
The Regional Artist Project Grant (RAPG) Program receives major funding from United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and the North Carolina Arts Council with funding from the state of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art. Additional support is provided by the Franklin County Arts Council, Johnston County Arts Council, Vance County Arts Council and Warren County Arts Council.
We are now accepting applications for the 2008-09 Regional Artist Project Grant Program. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 19, 2008 at 5 PM. This is not a postmarked deadline. Because the Regional Artist Project Grants are competitive, workshops will be held in July and August to assist artists in preparing for the grant application process (see schedule below). Workshop attendance is not required.
